Baby Yaga Prototype: SHARED!

SO. I made this silly idea into a prototype that I showcased on a crt tv at the Sacramento Capitol Showcase in April. Cleaned up a few buggy and experience things since the showcase, but mostly kept the experience the same. This is a proof of concept that sandwiched all the decent art, music, mechanics and gameplay I could fit into a few weeks worth of work prior to the event, and I think it is fun as such. I have no idea if this will become a larger project or not, as I don't have a grand plan for it, but getting this far temps me into trying to continue. We will see?

I started this project years ago based on a NES Dev twitter challenge in which every week you did something like "create 8 reusable tiles" or "design a flying enemy" or "Make an animation that can be used for multiple purposes" and I branched off from there. Much later and separately I came up with and added the "Baby Yaga" character and angle... in which you're a witch. Swapping Baba Yaga for Baby Yaga was random, in that the words popped in my head and I thought it was a funny and cute character idea. Like... what if before the Baba Yaga was a freaky ol' scary witch, you got to see her as a baby? What if you went on a little adventure and got into trouble? What is that origin story?

SO. Yeah. Here we are, with me working through some of those questions and wondering if there is room for more. I have a few other mechanics semi-working behind the scenes, but don't know what actual levels would be like or how the story would unfold. This demo was more me sandboxing the enemies and items and hazards I had made and arranging them in little rooms for you to get through; nothing more! I'd need to do some heavy research and experimenting to take it further, to a point that it feels like a more structured and purposeful game.

For now, just have fun speed-running through this series of areas and enjoying the NES-esque vibes I tried to package for ya. PEACE.
